Funded childcare opens to every two-year-old in Neath Port Talbot
Every parent or carer of a two-year-old living in Neath Port Talbot can now apply for funded Flying Start childcare, after the council extended the offer across the county borough.

What families can receive
The offer provides 12.5 hours of childcare across five days during each of the 39 school-term weeks. The council says it became available throughout Neath Port Talbot from Monday 21 September, regardless of which part of the authority families live in.
That amounts to 487.5 funded hours across a full school-term year. It is a term-time offer for two-year-olds, rather than a year-round childcare entitlement.

Applications are open through the council's Flying Start childcare pages. Families should check the eligibility and application guidance there before choosing a setting.
Councillor Nia Jenkins, the council's cabinet member for nature, tourism and wellbeing, said the expansion was intended to support children's development and help parents who want to work or train.
