Paul Potts to open Port Talbot’s refurbished Yr Aelwyd

Paul Potts will perform the opening concert at Port Talbot’s refurbished Yr Aelwyd on Saturday 27 February 2027, Neath Port Talbot council has announced. The venue in Civic Square was previously known as the Princess Royal Theatre. The homecoming performance will mark the singer’s 20th career anniversary and the theatre’s reopening.
A return to his hometown
The council says Potts will combine music from his career with stories about the path that took him from Port Talbot to international stages. He described being chosen to open the refurbished theatre as an honour. The concert is a future booking, rather than an event that has already taken place. The council’s 22 October announcement identifies Potts as the opening act; it does not establish that the building is already open to audiences.
Ask the box office about arrangements
The council lists the box office on 01639 763214 for ticket enquiries. Its stated telephone hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.15pm. General enquiries can go to porttalbottheatre@npt.gov.uk. Ask the box office to confirm ticket prices, seat availability, the concert start time and access arrangements before planning a visit. The archive photograph shows the theatre before refurbishment, rather than its completed condition.
