A bookable fflecsi bus service will replace the B57 and B58 Bwcabus routes around Rhayader from Monday 2 November, Transport for Wales (TfW) and Powys County Council said on 26 October. It becomes the 13th fflecsi area in rural Wales. Instead of a fixed timetable, vehicles are routed around bookings and pick passengers up from a safe point nearby. The service is run by Simon Price Cars.

Where it goes

The zone covers Rhayader, Llanidloes, Crossgates, Builth Wells, Llandrindod Wells and the Elan Valley. It links with the X75 to Aberystwyth, the T4 to Merthyr Tydfil and trains on the Heart of Wales Line.

Booking and fares

Buses run Monday to Friday, except bank holidays. Trips can be booked on the fflecsi app or by calling 0300 234 0300, Monday to Saturday from 7am to 7pm and Sunday from 10am to 2pm. Single adult fares start at £1.50, Welsh concessionary travel card holders travel free and mytravelpass is accepted. Passengers can pay by app, contactless, cash or Tap on, Tap off. The announcement does not give the hours the buses run each day.

Help before the switch

Staff will help people set up bookings at The Groe in Builth Wells on Thursday 29 October from 9.45am to 11.30am, near the Golden Lion and Village Post Office in Newbridge on Wye from 1pm to 2.45pm the same day, and at Rhayader Leisure Centre on Friday 30 October from 10am to 2.30pm. "Good local public transport is essential for supporting vibrant and sustainable rural communities," said Councillor Jackie Charlton, Powys cabinet member for a Greener Powys.
